We’ve all experienced our share of aches and pains from time to time, but there is a large population of Americans whose pain tends to be more persistent and chronic. Today’s infographic from Wahl Massagers gives us a glance at some of the details of these widespread chronic issues.
Did you know that Americans spent more than $50 billion last year on lower back pain alone? 21 million people suffer from lower back pain at least once a week, while more than double that number experience lower back pain on a daily basis. In fact, the chances of you yourself NOT experiencing lower back pain at some point during the year is only 1 in 5. As far as joint pain goes, the odds of experiencing some level of chronic joint pain are greater than the odds of living past 65.
There are many forms of chronic pain that afflict Americans, but there are also several different methods of dealing with that discomfort. Many choose pain medication, while others try things like hot/cold treatments, massages and a holistic approach. Regardless of the mechanism, though, women are twice as likely as men to actually do something about their pain and get it treated.
