Since I was young I have loved the rain, especially when it is accompanied by thunder and lightning. Lightning, if you don’t already know, is an electrical discharge from the atmosphere mostly seen in thunderstorms, but can appear in volcano eruptions as well and on a few other occasions. In my opinion it is one of the coolest natural occurrences and makes for some really cool photographs especially if you can figure a way to do it properly. Today’s infographic is all about lightning and is titled Stuff You Didn’t Know About Lightning.
Featured in the infographic is Roy Sullivan, a man who holds the Guinness World Record for being struck by lightning the most amount of times. As a park ranger Sullivan was struck seven times in a span of 35 years, 1977 being the oddest. In June of 1977 Sullivan was out fishing when he was struck by lightning after which he had to fend off a bear with a stick. On another note the infographic provides several other facts about lightning that you can use to impress your friends at parties. [via]
