This infographic gives an overview of the options available for meeting the privacy needs of various users. I don’t know about you, but I don’t need my data buried inside a mountain. Anti-virus, on the other hand, is probably a good idea, especially if you have a windows machine.
There isn’t a perfect solution to backing up files yet. Online backups are convenient and secure in that if your house burns down your data is thousands of miles away and quite safe, unlike the external hard drive on the desk next to your computer. Online backups are vulnerable to hacking in ways that that hard drive is not, however.
