Something you will learn in life is that itâ??s all about ME! Well, okay, maybe not everythingâ?¦ but the infographic I am sharing with you today gets at something I am extremely passionate about. Throughout my volunteer and work experience, I have been very fortunate to share beautiful moments with people who are differently-abled. During the past year, I have become more and more connected to the idea of serving this population before and throughout my career as a social worker. So, this is an infographic that I think needs to be shown.
Many people take a lot of things in life for granted, and not having a â??disabilityâ? is one of them. Having worked with this population, I have not only been exposed to the hopeful and magnificent moments, but I have also seen great amounts of negativity and judgment toward my friends only because of their differences. I have learned that many of these conclusions are made on false grounds and that this population has so much to offerâ??a fact that the world seems not yet ready to embrace.
So, as you view this infographic, I offer you the opportunity to analyze the way in which our society operates. Does the U.S. provide sufficient resources for those who are differently-abled? What else can be done in the future to better the education and employment opportunities for this population?, Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy this infographic in honor of the 22nd anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act!
