Foods To Make Your Wine Taste Even Better

You’ve heard of wine and cheese parties, right? Want to take it a step further and include more than just cheese? Well, this is your guide on how to properly combine foods with the different types of wine for maximum flavor.

Of course, the first step is choosing white or red. Next, decide how much wine you’ll need for your guests. Don’t worry, if you overestimate that just leaves more for you! Once that’s been established, you can move on to the meat of the matter.

White wines are generally more suitable for warmer seasons. Popular choices like chardonnay and pinot grigio open the door to a wide variety of fish and chicken dishes. Foods to stay away from include smoked meats and blue cheese as they can overpower your wine. If you’re a fan of spicy food, sweet wines like Riesling are an excellent compliment.

Red wines on the other hand, generally make better companions to red meats. Cabernet Sauvignon, for example, goes very well with steak and potatoes. Avoiding white meats and seafood with most red wines is generally best.

Now that you have some ideas for your next gathering, pour yourself a glass and get to planning. As they say, a glass a day keeps the doctor away.
