My husband loves buying new denim, and I honestly don’t understand. Doesn’t everyone get intimidated when choosing which style and rise to try on?
If you’re a jeans-buying pro, this cheat sheet will make the process even smoother. And if you’re clueless like me, it’ll be a shopping life-saver.
Straight, skinny and slim jeans are all completely different styles, even though the names can be deceiving. Skinny jeans are fitted down to the ankle, while slim jeans are fitted down to the leg. Straight jeans run straight through the leg.
Hopefully I haven’t lost you yet. Boyfriend and bootcut jeans are great options for people who don’t like tight pants. Boyfriend jeans are more relaxed and looser, while bootcut jeans are flared from the knee down.
As far as cut goes, high-waisted jeans sit above the natural waistline. (I’ve heard them called mom jeans, but they can be super flattering if you wear them right.) Mid- and low-cut jeans differ slightly, as mid-cut pants sit above the hip and low-cut pants sit on the hip.
