These Foods And Beverages Are Awful For Your Teeth

There’s nothing quite like a winning smile. But even if you’re brushing your teeth and flossing regularly, you could be sabotaging your oral health with your diet.

Thanks to the team over at University Associates Dentistry, we have a handy guide for what foods and beverages are the best and worst options for teeth.

You already know that drinking water is good for you, but did you know water with fluoride can help prevent tooth decay? Turn to H20 instead of soda or juice if you’re thirsty.

Sugarless gum can also be a huge help. When chewed after meals, it helps produce saliva and minimize the effects of acid in the mouth.

I’ve got bad news for any ice chewers out there: It’s awful for your teeth. As tempting as it may be to crunch some down, it’s best to avoid it.

Also try to avoid sticky foods like donuts, dried fruit and candy. Rinse your mouth out after you have a treat.

It’s also time to turn away from booze if you’re a big drinker. Heavy drinking can increase your risk of dry mouth and tooth decay.

Follow these tips and your smile will be in tip-top shape in no time –– and make sure you check out our post on how to brush your teeth properly.
