We’ve all been there: moving day. Some people hire movers, some go with U-haul and some leave everything and start anew. My parents moved a little over a year ago to a house with a lot of modern architecture. Once they noticed not much of their old furniture would go with the new place – I got to pickin’. It was my first year to move into a non-dorm living space and I needed some space fillers. I lucked out with a cow hide rug, lounge chair and many more things from mason jars to hammocks. Now, I know it is great to get all this stuff, but you know how much of a pain it was to get it to my place?
I made too many trips back and forth from Austin to San Marcos, always remembering to forget something in the other town. Another pain was when my roommate’s brother offered us his old couches. Catch was, they were in a house four hours away. We somehow manage to get two monster couches out of this college household and pile them in the back of a truck. When we get back from our day trip of fetching couches — the big green monster wouldn’t fit in the door…[My Move]
