Music is something that is universally loved. Even if everyone doesn’t enjoy the same kind of music, you will be hard pressed to find an individual that denounces all music as unentertaining.
Interestingly music also has a practical function of improving our brain function. If only I had a dollar for every time someone tried to tell me that listening to classical music while studying increased recall, or that parents should play Bach for pregnant moms.
One step closer to the music would be musicians. Studies seem to show that musicians have improved working memories, can differentiate between sounds better and have more neural paths in their brain than the average Joe. So don’t drop those piano lessons yet – they may help you in other ways.
