For most of us, a microwave is merely a tool to reheat food. Today we’ll look at how to get more out of your microwave.
While most people don’t primarily cook using their microwaves, it is certainly a feasible option beyond simply reheating leftovers. For some people, like students living in college residential halls, a microwave may be your main way of cooking meals. Today’s infographic takes a look at some of the best recipes and hacks for your microwave.
The first recipe depicted on this list is a simple, but delicious 5-minute mac and cheese. With this recipe, you simply mix a 1/2 cup of elbow macaroni with a 1/2 cup of water and salt in a mug. You then microwave for 2-3 minutes and stir. Following this, you add three tablespoons of milk, a 1/4 cup of shredded cheese, salt, and pepper. After stirring, place back in the microwave for 30 more seconds. Your super simple and super delicious microwave mac and cheese is now done!
Along with recipes, there are a lot of “hacks” or simply useful information. For example, did you know that you can prevent those dastardly onion tears using your microwave? “How?” You may wonder? Well, you simply microwave the onion for 45 seconds before cutting it. The heat will break down some of the tear-inducing compounds.
I don’t want to give away all of the recipes and hacks, so be sure to read through the rest of today’s infographic!
