I remember once in high school, when I was in health class, the teacher mentioned something about high heels eventually causing back pain. He made some joke about how it was great to watch a girl strut down the hall in them but they were terrible for her feet, legs and back. It wouldn’t have been such a memorable conversation if I wasn’t the only female, who just happened to be wearing high heels that day.
I must admit that I’m guilty of several things this infographic describes. I’ve owned several pairs of heels taller than 3 inches, prefer a pointed toe, and wear them until my feet are in pain. I’ve always known that high heels caused some of these problems, but I decided to ignore it and wear them anyway. I might have to rethink that.
I never put much thought into high heels past how great they make my legs look when I’m wearing them. There is just something to be said about putting on a nice pair of heels. Let’s be honest though – they can hurt like a bitch. If I could find some great-looking but comfy high heels, I’d be all over them. Until then, I think I’ll just steer clear of heels for a while and give my flats another try. I’m not ready to experience any of these specific pains yet.
