Let’s face it, we’re all suffering from Covid-19 fatigue. It’s been around since the beginning of the year and it’s affected every country in the world as well as every aspect of our lives.
No country has had it tougher than the United States. Uncertainty creates stress as does a lack of control. Covid-19 has most definitely added to both conditions.
This infographic has been constructed from data collected from the National Pandemic Emotional Impact Report. The information was collected in May 2020 when people were under stay-at-home orders.
Not surprisingly, some demographic groups are more stressed than others. Adults with school-going children have to manage the stress of work and child care. Shockingly nearly 40% of people interviewed had lost their jobs–little wonder they’re stressed.
Older people it would appear are managing the stress better than most other demographics and that’s even though they are most at risk for serious complications. While one in four people in the 18 to 24 age group has considered suicide during the month of June.
This too will pass and we should look to help those around us. We’re all in this together and together we’ll emerge. Also, helping others is a proven way to improve our own moods and reduce anxiety.
