I am an avid fan of flying. Ever since I took my first flight when I was just a toddler running up and down the aisle screaming, I knew it was for me. As for flying a plane I’m not that big of a fan, being a passenger is a good alternative. I actually flew ‘alone’ for the first time this summer. It was pretty fun and not very different than flying with people you know, you just sit next to strangers.
On my flight up to Tennessee this summer I was next to a 30-something year old woman who had never flown before. She was physically shaking and wanted to talk to me the whole time to try and get her mind off of the flight. I would normally be fine with this, I love meeting new people, but I had gotten up at 3:30 in the morning. I was so incredibly tired, I felt bad for falling asleep while she was talking, I couldn’t help it. I did however wake up before landing and helped coax her fear down.
On the flight back, I had been at a music fest for the last 4 days without a shower. Luckily I was next to a very nice new mother. The problem was she had brought her son along; all one years old of him. He was a good kid really, but for some reason on this flight there were an abundance of little babies and toddlers– even the flight attendant took notice. Anyway, my new-to-the-world little neighbor was sleeping the entire flight until the captain told us we were about to land. Little neighbor-baby was not happy about this and let everyone on the plane know. [Via]
