Ah the joy of summer. The season of swim trunks, bikinis, and beaches is upon us. Even though not all people love the scorching sun and tanning for hours, most people young and old find comfort in ice cream, what I’d call the king of desserts.
Name one person that doesn’t enjoy ice cream, I dare you (people allergic to dairy or living in the North pole do not count). Don’t know anyone! I thought so. Ice cream is one of the most diverse desserts available, coming in flavors for everyone. From regular old vanilla to exotic avocado, almost anything you can think of has been made into an ice cream flavor.
But what most people don’t know is that besides different flavors ice cream also comes in different types. Almost every country in the world has its own take on the ice cream. Some are more familiar to us Americans like Italian gelato and Mexican paletas, but then there are some freaky and strange ones like Malaysia’s ais kacang and Turkish dondurma. For a detailed look check out the infographic, I am off to grab me some chocolate ice cream.
Happy National Ice Cream Day!
