Congratulations, you’ve just opened the acceptance letter to your first-choice college! Your entire family could not be happier; you could not be happier. After all, you have spent the last four years preparing for this: furiously studying to keep your GPA afloat and taking endless SAT prep-courses. It is such a relief to have all of that behind you now–and to know it paid off.
Now it’s time to prepare for college itself, and this can be a very daunting task. Some things to consider are housing, tuition, major, leaving home, etc. The good news is that every entering college freshman is in the same state of decision-making panic that you are. One of the most important things to consider is financial aid. Be sure you have applied to every scholarship and grant available to you and (if necessary) requested federal or private funds to cover any additional costs you might have.
Citizens Bank has gathered some interesting statistics on college students that help paint a picture of what the average incoming freshman is like. Read more and find out what you have in common with the rest of your freshman class. Good luck! [via]
