A simple hot dog with your choice of condiment will usually get the job done, but what about the times that it won’t?
Today’s infographic focuses not on simple hot dogs, but instead specialty hot dogs. Specialty hot dogs vary from region to region, state to state, and country to country. In this infographic specifically, there are forty types of hot dogs highlighted. And boy, do some of these look delicious.
You may already be familiar with some of these. For instance, (I’m assuming) everyone knows the classic Coney, but just in case you don’t or simply want to be reminded of its deliciousness, a Coney dog is a short hot dog in a short bun with chili, chopped onions, and a pile of finely shredded cheddar. Essentially, this is the classic chili cheese dog. Another you may be familiar with is the New York dog, which is simply a traditional hot dog topped with mustard, sauerkraut, and onion sauce.
But beyond these favorites that we know and love is a whole other world of specialty dogs. Just look at the Chinese hot dog, which is a hot dog wrapped in a dumpling-like dough which is then sprinkled with sesame seeds and baked. Another unique dog is the Dodger dog, which contains many essentials (ketchup, mustard, chopped onions, relish), but is a foot long!
