Spotify has been around for 10 years. That’s a lot of music! But how do you figure out what the most streamed songs in that first decade were? Well, we took a look at our data, and this is what we found:
Released in March 2019 and produced by Kanye West and Mike Dean, “Sunflower” is a hip-hop track that features Swae Lee. The song was inspired by Post Malone’s girlfriend when they first met, who wore a sunflower dress. In it, the two artists sing to her about their love for each other: “I just wanna say / I just wanna say / I just wanna say girl you’re my world / You know I want nothing but the best for you.”
The song climbed to #1 on Spotify’s Global Chart in July 2019 and remained there until August 1st. While it was at #1 on Spotify’s Global Chart, it also topped Billboard’s Hot 100 chart for two weeks before dropping off the charts entirely—but not before leaving behind a lasting impression on music fans everywhere!
