The modern world of blogging is one full of fierce competition, high standards, and a seemingly endless number of posts being published every day. Indeed, with over 70 million posts published on WordPress alone each and every month, it may be even more ridiculous than you thought.
We live in a world where dozens of new blog posts are being published every second of every day. 27 per second on WordPress alone! When you factor in content from Tumblr, from Medium, from Blogger, and everywhere else, it’s almost disheartening. Why should you bother, when there’s so much competition?
For one thing, this infographic by Content Powered shows that a majority of web users believe that a blog adds credibility to a website, and a full third of consumers identify a blog as the number one factor influencing credibility. A website needs credibility to succeed, to stand out above the rest. Without a blog, you have no chance. With one, you can strive to be one of the few that rise above the rest, at least in your niche.
It’s no surprise, then, that 65% of marketers plan to increase their blogging efforts moving forward in 2020 and beyond. Blogging is more valuable than ever before, even though other forms of content – like video and streaming – are growing as well.
The fact is, people still read blogs every day, especially when they’re trying to learn something new. Blogs are important for credibility, education, and relationships. Any business that wants to grow and succeed online needs to have a blog up and running.
Studies have shown that websites with good, well-run blogs are 1,300% more likely to see a positive return on investment. They also show that longer blog posts generate 900% more leads than shorter posts. And yet, only 20% of business blog posts are over 750 words long. So while the sea of content may seem endless, the bar is pretty low. Anyone can, with just a little effort, rise above the rest.
