10 Places to See Before They’re Gone

By | source:Tripinsurance Jul 4th, 2013

The world has become an unpredictable place.  Along with the depletion of earth’s natural resources, the weather is getting crazy: deadly tornadoes, sweltering heat and previously temperate places, and freak blizzard hurricanes. Changes that were happening over thousands of years are now happening in much less time, so who knows how much longer we’ll have some of the world’s natural wonders.

In case you’re inspired to set out to see a few before they disappear, you really might want to get packing. An interesting aspect of today’s infographic is the timer each destination has until its demise. While the future seems grim, it gives a pretty actionable idea of how much time you have, and money you have to save up, in order to plan a trip to your destination.

After looking at today’s infographic, I would like to go to the Congo Basin and Glacier National Park. It will be such a treat to be able to experience Earth’s amazing treasures before they disappear, so go see them while you still can! If you need to beat jetlag try this.

A 2017 version has been expanded to 25 places.   Though some of these places hopefully are on a much longer timeline, here are a few that seem to be on a count down: Madagascar’s forests (35 years), Montana’s Glacier National Park (15 years), Dead Sea (50 years), The Alps (33 years), Great Barrier Reef (13 years), The Great Wall (20 years).
